CHILLY POWDER
Chilly powder is a basic ingredient, used to give the spicy flavour in any recipe. We use homemade chilly powder for all our cooking. Generally, the chilly powder that is available in the stores, are made with only chillies, but we include few other ingredients to make our own chilly powder. This chilly powder can be used like a regular store bought chilly powder. It won’t alter the taste of the recipe.
We use chilly powder in almost every recipe. Since elders, and the kids in our family have the same food, we use this recipe, instead of just plain chilly powder.
INGREDIENTS:
- DRY RED CHILLIES – 1 KG
- CUMIN SEEDS – 100 GMS
*Cumin seeds helps in digestion.
- TURMERIC(KOMBU MANJAL) – 100 GMS
*Turmeric is a basic ingredient, used in almost every Indian recipes. It is said to have a lot of medicinal properties.

HOW TO MAKE CHILLY POWDER:
- Dry the chillies, under the sun, until it becomes crisp.
- Mix everything, and grind it into fine powder.
*we usually take it to the shop, for the grinding.
Grinding can also be done at home with a blender. Grinding in a blender takes longer, and it has to be sifted to get a fine powder.
CHILLY POWDER IS READY.
